Burnout keynote speaker Dr. Sumi Raghavan, PhD

Burnout Speaker for Keynotes, Workshops & Media Appearances

Is your team or audience experiencing burnout, trauma, or chronic stress?

My workshops and talks can help.

I’m a clinical psychologist, former college educator, and experienced speaker specializing in burnout, trauma, chronic-stress, and resilience—particularly in the workplace. I deliver evidence-based, culturally informed keynotes, seminars, and conversations for organizations, teams, conferences, and communities.

Tailored to your audience and infused with warmth, relatability, and humor, your people will leave feeling supported, understood, and empowered to make real change.

As Seen on

My keynotes, workshops, and talks include research-backed psychoeducation, tips for identifying burnout, traumatic stress, and depression, and actionable strategies to build resilience, and prevent long-term exhaustion.

With a decade of experience in higher education, I’m skilled at turning complex academic concepts into digestible bites and a-ha moments that can improve mental health. As a trainer for the Global Center for Journalism and Trauma, I have offered talks and trainings to top media organizations on understanding burnout and trauma in the workplace.

Whether I’m speaking to a room of healthcare providers or media professionals, or a podcast audience navigating career stress or parenting burnout, my goal is the same: to help audiences understand their experiences and feel empowered to make changes in their lives.

Keynote & Workshops Signature Talks

These are my most popular talks, but we can collaborate on a custom talk for your audience.

  • Our culture encourages us to “power through” burnout and trauma, but the science tells us that doesn’t work. Burnout is more than stress — it’s emotional, cognitive, and physical depletion that affects performance, motivation, and wellbeing.

And hard as we try, we can’t be effective in work and life if we’re not doing well.

    In this talk, participants will:

    • Understand the science of burnout

    • Identify early warning signs

    • Learn practical strategies to reduce and prevent burnout

    • Build sustainable self-care practices that actually work

They’ll walk away with a better and more contextualized understanding of their experience, feeling motivated and capable of making small changes to take better care of themselves.

  • Many professionals—healthcare providers, therapists, journalists, attorneys, activists, and frontline workers—are exposed to trauma indirectly through their work.

Doing this work can take its toll; it may be hard to escape the reminders of images, words, and experiences that arise on the job.

    Participants will learn:

    • How secondary trauma impacts the brain and nervous system

    • Signs and symptoms to watch for

    • Tools to protect their mental health

Ways to stay engaged in meaningful work without sacrificing themselves

They’ll walk away with a deeper knowledge of their experience, tips to recognize their own limits, and strategies to take care of yourself during overwhelm.

  • Isolation and disconnection are major drivers of burnout and disengagement.

    This talk helps organizations:

    • Understand the psychology of connection and community

    • Improve team cohesion and morale

    • Build cultures that support wellbeing and retention

    Strengthen collaboration and performance

They’ll walk away feeling more connected to their colleagues and more motivated to build cultures of care together, along with clear strategies on how to do so.

Continuing Education (CE) Trainings on Burnout, Trauma & Workplace Stress

In addition to corporate speaking and media appearances, I offer CE seminars for organizations offering continuing education for therapists, psychologists and mental health practitioners.

My CE trainings blend research, clinical insight, and practical application. Students will walk away with deeper knowledge and expanded skills.

    • Trauma and trauma-informed care

    • Burnout and clinician wellbeing

    • Cultural humility and working with diverse clients

    • Nervous system regulation and resilience

    • Private practice development and management

    • Peer supervision and building a clinical community

Podcast Guesting & Media Appearances

As an expert on burnout and chronic stress, trauma and nervous system health, mental health and culture, and therapy and healing, I’m available for podcast interviews, panel discussions, and press features.

I’m an experienced media guest who has appeared on popular podcasts with large audiences, including the HERself podcast, Trust and Thrive Podcast with Tara Montazeri, AMFT, Zanta Podcast with Ruthie Zerai, and Holding Space with Dr. Cassidy Freitas.

I’m comfortable translating clinical research into accessible, compelling conversation — whether for a leadership podcast, a mental health show, or a broader audience exploring work and wellbeing.

My goal is always to create meaningful conversations that resonate long after the episode ends.

    • Workplace burnout and professional identity

    • High-achiever exhaustion

    • Trauma and the nervous system

    • Cultural influences on stress and mental health

    • Therapist and healthcare provider burnout

    • Sustainable ambition and redefining success

    • Parenthood and burnout

FAQs about Speaking & Workshops

  • Given my background and orientation as a cross-cultural professional, I incorporate values of diversity, equity, and inclusion into these conversations.

  • Yes. I offer in-person workshops. I’m based in the New York City area, but am open to travel.

  • Rates vary depending on duration of presentation and degree of preparation, with additional factors such as travel if needed. We can discuss cost in detail during our free consultation call.

  • My keynotes, workshops and talks can improve the well-being and mental health of your staff through education and support. Research shows that this is often a component of improving performance, retention, and effectiveness.

My workshops can help foster a positive climate where staff feel seen and supported, and I always offer tools and strategies that can be applied in personal and professional settings.

That said, I am not an organizational consultant and my talks and workshops are not aimed at topics such as strategic planning or change management. I cannot help your company make decisions about people and teams with the goal of improving revenue.

  • Yes, I can develop programming that is tailored to your needs. We can figure some of this out in our consultation call, and if it seems like I’m not the best fit for your needs, I’ll be clear about this and try to point you in the right direction.

  • I’m glad you’re tuned into the needs of your staff! Workshops and talks offered are not psychotherapy, and direct clinical intervention and group treatment is beyond what I would offer in this program.
